Suzuki Jimny 5-door spy shot details
Seen testing some where in Northern part of India, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door is undergoing its final rounds of tests without any visible camo and in full production form. This is the first-ever sighting of the Jimny 5-door and what’s seen here confirms that – apart from the longer wheelbase, two more doors and a bigger bodyshell – visually it is going to look similar like the 3-doorJimny. The Jimny 5-door is based on the globally sold Suzuki Jimny ,which is a 3-door SUV (also known as Jimny Sierra),and rides on chunky alloy wheels and gets fender flares.
As seen in this picture the car sports its classic ‘Kinetic Yellow’ exterior paint, and the Jimny 5-door is a longer than its 3-door sibling. In terms of dimensions it measures 3,850mm in length, and has a 300mm longer wheelbase which measures 2,550mm compared to 2,250mm wheelbase of the 3-door Jimny. In terms of design, the doors for second-row do blends very neatly with the boxy body styling but gets a much smaller ‘usable’ rear glass, as there is a large quarter glass. There is more glass area in the extended portion behind the rear doors with thick pillars that makes it look bigger. Over-all the styling of the Jimny 5-door is similar to its 3-door sibling and gets no such major styling changes and at the back gets the same side opening tailgate with exposed hinges, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, and the same rear bumper and tail-lamp design as the Jimny 3-door.
Jimny 5-door Engine details
As per our earlier report, the Jimny 5-door will gets a single engine option and will be powered by the older K15B naturally aspirated 4-cyl petrol engine and is expected to come matted with 2 gearbox options, a 4-speed torque converter automatic and 5-speed manual gearbox. While Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD with manual transfer case and low range will be standard for both the gearbox across most of the variants as per sources.
Jimny 5-door India launch
Earlier it was expected that the Jimny 5-door will makes its debut in 2022 itself but the trial production is expected to start in the coming weeks, its series production will start by next year. The market launch in India is expected by mid-2023 and launch around festive season.
New Suzuki car and SUVs at Auto Expo 2023
The Jimny 5-door will be one of the best product from the brand but Maruti will also showcase an all-new Baleno-based coupe-SUV as well as a mid-sized EV SUV concept. There will also be flex-fuel concept on display as well.
