Overview of the Fortuner Legender.

The Toyota Fortuner Legender is a more premium upmarket version of regular Toyota Fortuner that is all set to make it debut in India by early 2021. For starters, it is a body-on-frame SUV. It will get a totaly new front and rear design, more equipments and premium features than the recently facelifted Fortuner. It will also get off-road kit from the factory. But the main fact is The Fortuner Legender will not replace the regular Fortuner and will be sold along with it but will have a much premium pricing. In simple terms consider the Legender version will fill the viod of the Toyota Fortuner TRD version that was discontinued.

How different is the Legender from the Regular Fortuner?

The regular Fortuner that is currently sold in India got a facelift recently and will will get another by next near but the changes are minor, while the Toyota Fotuner Legender will gets an all new design in the front and rear. It has much sharper design up front with large grille design, high bumper line, deep intakes like design and a large intake are under the bumper that give ait a much wider and bigger look. In addition to that it will have slim LED headlights that look more premium like Lexus cars along with swiping  LED indicators that makes it look more premium. There are also some design changes made in the rear that looks good. Also get new and large 20-inch alloy wheels as standard.

On the interior to make it more premium Toyota has provided it with a large 9.0-inch touch screen infotainment, 360° camera for parking, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and two-tone sporty seats as standard. The top variants may also get features like departure warning system, and advance cruise control with radar guidance and wheel orientation sensor for off-roading.

Engine of the Legender.

The 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine for the Fortuner Legender will be tuned to produce a maximum of 204 HP and 500 NM of torque. The HP seems to be a bit low but a big amount of torque builds up at just 1,600 RPM and the best part is the torque curve remains flat till 2,800rpm. Toyota was able to achieve that bump in power and torque and torque with the help of a variable nozzle turbo, which is controlled by an electric motor. Sources say that this engine commonly known as the Toyota 2.8V GD turbo diesel engine will not be exclusively equipped to the Legender but will also power the regular Fortuner. While the 2.4 Litre Turbo diesel engine that produces 150 HP and 400 NM of torque that powers the Innova in India, there is no news if it will be provided with the Fortuner again in near future.

Price of the Fortuner Legender.

The current top end variant of Toyota Fortuner sells for around Rs 34.43 lakh Ex-showroom, Delhi, considering that the new Toyota Fortuner Legender is expected to start at around Rs 40 lakh Ex-showroom. With that pricing it will be much more costlier than other big premium body-on-frame SUVs in its segment like the Mahindra Alturas, Ford Endeavour and the recently launched MG Gloster.
