Suzuki Jimny Lite Revealed for the international market

Suzuki has revealed an entry-level variant of its small Jimny SUV, called the Suzuki Jimny Lite. While it loses some basic features of the standard Jimny but allows buyers to get the SUV at a much affordable price tag. The Jimny Lite will be first launched in Australia on August 1, 2021.

Suzuki Jimny Lite gets 15-inch off-road steel rims


The Suzuki Jimny Lite features the same design as the Jimny Sierra sold globally but misses out on some of its features to keep the cost low. Things like projector headlights, fog lamps design features with the standard Jimny, except that it misses out on the halogen projector headlamps, fog lights and even the alloy wheels on the exterior. Besides that, it retains everything else like the regular Jimny SUV. The Jimny Lite comes with a blacked-out grille, multi-reflector type halogen lights, and 15-inch off-road steel rims. 

Jimny Lite Powertrain details


The Suzuki Jimny Lite is powered by the same 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 102HP and 130Nm of peak torque. Matted to a 5-speed manual gearbox and no automatic is expected in the variant. It retains the capable 4×4 drive system. Suzuki did not compromise with the best features of the car which is its drivetrain.

To keep the cost low the cabin of the Suzuki Jimny Lite comes with a basic single-DIN type radio/CD player with Bluetooth connectivity, fabric upholstery, a 3-spoke multifunctional steering wheel is present, and manual climate controls. However, no cost-cutting should be done in term of safety and it is expected to come with multiple airbags, parking sensors, and ABS with EBD.

Suzuki Jimny Lite Pricing and availability


The Jimny Lite will be built in Japan and sold over markets like Australia first where it will be launched on August 1. Pricing details will be announced by Suzuki on the date of launch in Australia. It will have much lower pricing than the standard Jimny SUV which currently starts at $28,490 which is around Rs. 15.87 lakh in the overseas market.


In terms of India availability, Suzuki already manufactures the Jimny 3-door in India and sells it in other markets. For the Indian market, a more features rich and 5-door variant is expected to go on sale in near future.
