This engine comes with Suzuki’s Mild Hybrid technology and makes 102HP of maximum power and 130Nm of torque which was enough to move the Jimny around difficult terrains. Now there is a new piece of information that Suzuki could introduce a turbocharged version of this same engine for the 5-door Jimny to handle its bigger dimensions and heavier weight. The engine will also come with mild-hybrid technology. Like the 3-door Jimny, the 5-door should also come with a 4×4 drive system with a 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options, however, no official details are out from Suzuki on the powertrain.
In terms of styling, the 5-door Jimny will share styling similar to the facelift 3-door Jimny which is in-line and will be introduced by end of this year. That means it will get a revised front end design which will include a new grille design, new bumpers, wheel and headlights and taillights. But the SUV will retain the original Jimny silhouette.
The interior of the Jimny 5-door may get more premium materials and should come with a better fit and finish. The Jimny since its launch is one of the most anticipated SUV for both the international market and the Indian market, however, Suzuki is officially not giving out any news on its introduction in India even though production of the 3-door Jimny is started in India for export into some international market. But it expected that the 5-door Jimny will be introduced first in India and may happen by late 2022.
