Suzuki Jimny Overview

The new Suzuki Jimny 3-door has a similar body on frame construction like the previous generation Gypsy and the Mahindra Thar. It is a totally different construction like other Suzuki SUV which usually has a monocoque body style found in the Brezza. The engine used to power the Suzuki Jimny is the same 1.5 litre that powers other Maruti Suzuki cars like the Vitara Brezza, Ertiga, XL6 and Ciaz Sedan. In the Jimny the engine in mounted longitudinally and drives all the 4 wheels like a real SUV should have. While in other Maruti Suzuki cars the same engine is transversely mounted and drive only the front wheels. The engine on the Jimny

is tuned to produce 105 HP. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox or 4-speed automatic also four-wheel drive with low-range is also standard on the current Jimny.

Once launched in India the Suzuki Jimny will go up against the Mahindra Thar which is also in the making of a 5-door model slated to launch next year.

As of now, there is no information that the Maruti Suzuki will be bringing in the Suzuki Jimny 3-door Model for India.
