One of the much-awaited mid-size SUV, the 2021 Skoda Kushaq has been launched in India and prices starts at Rs 10.49 lakh for the entry-level 1.0 TSI Active variant and goes up to Rs 17.59 lakh for the top-spec 1.5 TSI AT Style variant. Skoda India first showcased the SUV as Vision IN concept back at the 2020 Auto Expo and then revealed the production-spec model being in March 2021. This is also Skoda’s first car which is built on the VW’s localised MQB A0 IN platform. Skoda has already started accepting bookings for the SUV on its website and dealerships across the country for a booking amount of Rs 35,000.

Skoda Kushaq Design
When it comes to design the Skoda Kushaq carries a lot from the Vision IN concept and it got a clean and nice-looking design and sits in line with larger Skoda SUVs. At the front, there is the trademark Skoda grille which is incorporated with sleek headlights and fog lights position just below that and it looks very nice. Also, the headlights get LED DRLs that adds to the looks of the SUV.
Skoda gave the Kushaq sharp lines and prominent creases along the body that gives it a boxy yet nice looks. At the rear, there are large wraparound LED tail-lights, a prominent chrome stripe running across the boot lid, faux diffuser on the bumper, and a roof-mounted spoiler. The top of the lone variant will also get 17-inch alloy wheels.
Skoda Kushaq Interior and features details
Like the exterior, the interior of the Kushaq is inspired by the Vision IN concept and it too features a clean and minimal design with a layered dashboard that gets a floating type touchscreen sitting in the middle. The Kush also comes with a new two-spoke multi-function steering wheel as standard just like other new Skoda cars.
In terms of equipment and feature, the top of the line Style trim gets a large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that gets Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected-car tech, leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, touch-sensitive controls for climate control, in-car Wi-Fi, wireless phone charger and a sunroof to name a few. In terms of safety kit as standard, the Skoda Kushaq gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, Multi Collision Braking, reverse-parking camera, auto headlights and wipers, tyre pressure monitoring system, and hill start assist and ESC.
Skoda Kushaq Variants
The Skoda Kushaq is available in three variants – Active, Ambition and Style. Skoda is also expected to introduce a range-topping Monte Carlo trim in near future. The Monte Carlo edition may also come with a sole 1.5 TSI engine.
The Kushaq is available with two turbo-petrol engines. The standard option is a 1.0-L, 3-cylinder TSI unit that produces 115Hp and 178Nm of torque, and the other is a larger 1.5-L, 4-cylinder TSI unit that makes an impressive 150Hp and 250Nm of torque. Both engines come standard with a 6-speed manual gearbox. There are also two automatic gearboxes on offer and the 1.0L TSI gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic and the 1.5L TSI gets a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The 1.5L TSI motors also get cylinder deactivation technology that helps in better fuel efficiency.
Skoda has also claimed that the Kushaq 1.0 TSI can do a 0-100kph sprint in 10.6sec with manual gearbox and takes 11.7sec with the automatic gearbox. The 1.5 TSI can go from 0-100kph in a much impressive 8.6sec with both gearboxes.
Skoda Kushaq Rivals
The Skoda Kushaq has entered the most competitive midsize SUV segment where it will rival some of the best sellers in the segment like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, MG Hector and Tata Harrier. The competition will future increase with the launch of upcoming VW Taigun midsize SUV in the coming months.
