New Hyundai i20 officially revealed, scheduled to launch on 5 November 2020, the premium hatchback will get new styling and premium features.
Hyundai India is all set to launch the New Hyundai i20 in India on 5th November 2020. Hyundai has already revealed the new 2020 i20 in the global market along with a more premium Sporty version called the i20 N-line.
Hyundai has also started the booking procedure for the New i20 both online and at the dealers against a sum of Rs 21,000. Below are the main things we can expect from the New Hyundai i20
- New i20 will get sharper and dynamic styling with a sporty approach and is bigger and better than the previous generation.
- New i20 will get three engine option two petrol engines and one diesel engine.
- When launch it will go up against Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza and Honda Jazz.
The new Hyundai i20 will be the fourth generation car and when compared to the current Elite i20 offered in India, the all-new i20 get a total overhaul and now get a much more sporty design with sharp lines and angular design bits all over its exterior. It gets Hyundai’s new design theme called the ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language and as a result features a new and bigger ‘cascading grille’ design, new headlight design with DRL and also new Z-shaped taillights with LED inserts, front splitter like element and at the rear gets a subtle diffuser treatment. This can also be seen on the recent spy shots of the car from a Hyundai Dealer.
New i20 will get six standard colour options- Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, Fiery Red, Starry Night, Metallic Copper.
Also gets two additional dual-tone finish paint options – Polar White with Black Roof and Fiery Red with Black Roof.
New Hyundai i20 engines and transmission
In terms of powertrain, the all-new Hyundai i20 gets different options to choose from. It will be offered with two petrol engines and one diesel engines option in India. The petrol engines will be a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol for the lower-spec models which may be tuned to produce around 90 HP, while the top-spec variants will get a 120hp, 1.0-litre 3 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine same as the Hyundai Venue.
In terms of transmission, the 1.2-litre engine will get an option of 5-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai’s iVT automatic gearbox which is basically a CVT transmission. The 1.0-litre engine, on the other hand, will come with an option of 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox and its new iMT gearbox
The 1.5 litre Diesel engine producing 100 HP will come only with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The same engine is also equipped on Venue and Creta SUVs but gets a higher state of tune in those cars.
Other Features and Equipment
With all the design updates in the exterior the interior also gets a new approach. The hatchback will be getting a new dashboard design with clean lines and the highlight will be a large 10.25″ touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard and top sec variants may also get Hyundai’s ‘BlueLink’ connected car features which will make it the most feature equipped car in the premium hatchback segment. The top-spec trim level of the new i20 will also get a digital instrument cluster just like the one seen on the New Hyundai Verna, a wireless phone charger, ambient lighting and even ventilated front seats with a sunroof, yes sunroof is back in Hyundai i20.
The hatchback will be available in four trim levels- Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O).
Rivals and Pricing
Since its first generation, the i20 was always known for its premium features and when launched it will rival against other premium hatchbacks like the Tata Altroz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, VW Polo TSI and Honda Jazz.
Looking at its rivals Hyundai India may price the All-New Hyundai i20 aggressively and may price it between Rs 5.5 – Rs 9.5 Lakh Ex-showroom.
