The Hyundai Alcazar SUV is one of the most anticipated car of this year which has been launched in India today at an introductory price for the petrol version starting at Rs 16.30 lakh and the diesel starts from Rs 16.53 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Bookings for the Hyundai Alcazar was started earlier this month online or at dealerships across the country for an amount of Rs 25,000.

Hyundai claims that it has already received 4,000 bookings for the Alcazar of which 50% of cars are automatic and the other half are manual. While 60 per cent of the models booked are 6 seat layout and the other 40 per cent are with the 7 seat layout.

Hyundai Alcazar SUV exterior design
The Hyundai Alcazar SUV exterior styling gets minor design changes to keep it different from the Creta.The changes includes a newly designed grille with chrome elements, a different front bumper, bigger rear quarter glass, newly designed wraparound tail-lights, a slightly upright tailgate, faux dual tip exhaust and larger 18-inch alloy wheels Which are 17-inch in Creta. Also while looked from the side the Alcazar is quite longer than Creta and has a wheelbase of 2,760mm which is 150mm more than the Creta. There is also side step for easy in and out of the car. Beside this every thing else looks same on the Alcazar when compared with the Creta. Even the headlights are shared but there are some chrome inserts to make some minor changes.
Hyundai Alcazar features
Hyundai Alcazar come with loads of features and most of them are even segment first. The features includes a 10.25-inch full digital instrudemt cluster(first in segment), 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Hyundai BlueLink or connected car tech, first-in segment 64 lights ambient lighting, lane changige camera with monitoring on the instrument cluster when you use indicator, 360-degree camere, middle row sun shade, voice activated panoramic sunroof, ISOFIX child seat mounts, wireless phone charging with first-in class second row wireless chaging feature, automatic climate control to name a few.
Some features like the digital instrument cluster on the Hyundai Alcazar SUV is a full-fledged c;our unit like used on the international Hyundai models unlike the ones that comes in the i20 and Hyundai Verna which used a backlit LCD digital instrument cluster.
As previously mentioned, the Alcazar will come with 3-row of seating and will have either a 6-seat configuration (with captain chairs in the middle row) or 7-seat configuration (with bench seat in the middle row). The interior gets black and brown dual-tone treatment for the upholstery. There’s also an unique feature specific to the 6-seater variant where it comes with a floor-mounted middle row armrest that gets cupholders, a wireless phone charger and extra storage space for convenience.
Hyundai Alcazar SUV variants on offer
The Hyundai Alcazar SUV is offered in three trim levels – Prestige, Platinum, and Signature. It also gets six exterior paints – Taiga Brown, Typhoon Silver, Polar White, Titan Grey, Phantom Black and Starry Night and of which two colours (white and grey) will be offered in a dual-tone scheme. All the variants gets the option for manual and automatic transmission.
Powertrain details
As mentioned previously, Hyundai Alcazar SUV will come with both petrol and a diesel engine option. The petrol unit is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated unit which is tuned to make more power than the one in the Elantra and Tucson. In the Alcazar it makes 159HP and healthy 192Nm of torque which is 7hp more than the Elantra. The diesel engine is the same 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit from the Creta that makes 115HP and 250Nm of torque but it has been tuned specifically for the Alcazar.
Both the engines gets the option of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearboxes. The Alcazar petrol-manual can do 0-100kph sprint in 9.5secas clamied by Hyundai. There are multiple drive modes available – Comfort, Eco and Sport – as well as multiple traction modes – Sand, Snow and Mud which can be selected by turn of a dial. While Hyundai claims that the petrol manual will return a fuel economy of 14.5kpl and the petrol automatic has a fuel efficiency of 14.2kpl. The diesel engine is m,uch morfe fuel effcient and with the manual returns a claimed 20.4kpl and diesel the automatic to retiurn 18.1kpl. With these figures Hyundai claims its the most fuel effiecient SUV in the segment.
Hyundai Alcazar Rivals
The Hyundai Alcazar will rival up against some of the segment best seller like the MG Hector Plus, new Tata Safari and the current Mahindra XUV500 which will later be replaced by upcopming Mahindra XUV700 which will eventually raise the benchmark of the segment. Both Hector Plus and Safari comes with both 6-seat and 7-seat configuration.
