The new Land Rover Defender has now got two new engine options for the India market- both 3.0L 6 cylinder available in petrol and diesel making a total of 3-powertrain options to choose from.
- Defender for India gets more powerful engines- 3.0L, six-cylinder turbo-petrol and 3.0L six-cylinder turbo-diesel
- No other major updates on offer
- The petrol Defender with 6 cylinder engine has a price range of Rs 86.24-95.39 lakh
- Price for Diesel Defender with 6-cylinder engine range from Rs 94.36 lakh to Rs 1.08 crore
Land Rover Defender variants and prices
For India, Land Rover is offering the six-cylinder engine options on both, Defender 90 (3-door) and the Defender 110 (5-door) models.
The diesel Defender is offered in four trims namely – SE, HSE, X-Dynamic HSE and X. The trim wise prices are mentioned below
The Petrol six-cylinder P400 Defender 90 variant is offered in five trims – SE, HSE, X-Dynamic SE, X-Dynamic HSE and First Edition. The Larger Defender 110 5-door variant is offered in four trims – SE, HSE, X-Dynamic SE and First Edition.
Coming to the equipment list the top-spec Defenders are offered with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, head-up display, automatic climate control, connected car tech, wireless charging, premium Meridian audio system, 12-way electrically adjustable and heated front seats, a 360-degree surround camera, front and rear parking sensors to name a few.
New Engine Details
Now the Defender range is available with two more engine optins- a 3.0L in-line six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that makes 400HP and 550Nm of torque and a 3.0L in-line six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that makes 300HP and 650Nm of torque. Both engine features 48volt mild-hybrid technology is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel-drive system is standard across all the variants.
India-spec Land Rover Defender Details
Finally the Defender range in India is now available with three powertrain option- a 2.0-litre, turbo-petrol making 300HP (P300) and the newly introduced engines a 3.0-litre, turbo-petrol (P400) making 400HP and 3.0-litre, turbo-diesel engine (D300) making 300HP. All comes matted with an 8-speed automatic trasmission with 4×4 option as standard.
Land Rover will also bring in a plug-in hybrid version of the Defender (P400e) by end of this year and already started accepting the bookings. Also they have recently launched a higher spec Defender V8 Variant.
