New Car and SUV launches That Makers Will Launch in January 2021 in India

January 2021 will be action-packed for Indian Automobile Industry as many makers have lined up some of their launches for January 2021. Here I have highlighted some of the key launches that are scheduled for January 2021 which includes both cars and SUVs.

 

Here is the list of the most exciting car launches for January 2021:

 

The BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine

The BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine is nothing but a long-wheelbase version of the sedan already available BMW 3 Series Sedan and its essentially the replacement BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo available earlier. The launch of 3 Series Gran Limousine is slated on January 21, 2021, by BMW in India. This also makes India the first right-hand-drive market to get the long-wheelbase version of the 3 series. 

 

At 2,961mm, the new 3 Series Gran Limousine will have a wheelbase of 2,961mm which will be 110mm longer than the standard model sold in India. In terms of powertrain options, it will be offered with both 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 258 HP and a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine producing 190 HP, which are identical to the engines offered in the standard BMW 3 Series Sedan. Other features like interior and exterior design, equipment will be kept similar to the standard model. But the pricing will be higher than the regular 3 Series Sedan.

 

Car Launches in India in January: Audi A4 Facelift

Audi India is introducing more products to its India line-up and the 1st car to launch in 2021 is the Audi A4 Facelift. Bookings for the sedan has been already started on the Audi India Website and also at the dealerships across the country. Booking can be done by paying a sum of Rs 2,00,000.

 

In terms of engine, the Audi A4 Facelift sedan will only be offered with a2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 190 HP. Power will be sent only to the front wheels via a 7-speed DCT gearbox. In terms of styling 2021 Audi A4 Facelift will be similar to the one sold in international markets.

 

However, the A4 sedan received a facelift in 2019 which tells that this is the send facelift the A4 is getting. The A4 got discontinued this year when BS6 Emission norms came in. 

 

MG Hector and Hector Plus 7-Seater

MG India is all set to launch the facelift of MG Hector SUV in India in January 2021. As seen by many sources recently the undisguised version of the Hector SUV, the changes that MG is going to make in the facelift version is to the exterior design that includes the front grille and newly designed bigger alloy wheels measuring at 18 inches, the current model come with 17-inch wheels. The interior too will get updates like a dual-tone interior with more premium materials and some more equipment may also be offered.

 

In terms of engine and other mechanical changes it will be kept similar to the current model which means the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol making 143 HP and turbo-petrol with mild-hybrid along with the 2.0-litre diesel engine making 170 HP will be on use in the facelift version.

 

MG will not just give a facelift to the Hector line-up but also introduce a new Hector Plus 7-seat variant to the Hector Plus range. A three-row Hector Plus was already launched this year which had captain-seats for the middle row but the Hector Plus 7-seater variant will get bench type seat for the 2nd row.

 

Car Launches in India in January: Jeep Compass Facelift

Jeep India will give its best-selling SUV in India, the Jeep Compass a facelift that will be similar to the one launched in the international markets recently. The updates will include a revised front design – new all-LED headlights along with LED DRLs, a newly designed 7 slat grille with honeycomb inserts along with a new bumper. It will also get a newly designed set of alloy wheels. The interiors will also be revised and get updates like a newly designed steering wheel, newly designed dashboard with premium materials, new sporty seats, a bigger 10.1-inch touch screen infotainment system, bigger panoramic sunroof and many more.

 

Tata Gravitas or Tata Safari

Tata Motors is going to launch the Gravitas SUV as Tata Safari in 26 January 2021. The Tata Gravitas first showcased in Auto Expo 2020 is basically the seven-seater version of the Tata Harrier SUV. The Gravitas which will be the Production spec Tata Safari will be the Flagship model in the Tata Motors Cars and SUV line-up. the Gravitas or Safari will be built on the same platform like the Harrier but will be slightly longer and wider to put on those extra seats for the third row. However, the wheelbase will be kept similar to the Harrier.

 

The exterior styling at the front will be almost similar like its sibling with minor changes. There will be design changes at the rear of the Gravitasor Safari due to the overhangs for the making extra space inside. 

 

The powertrain will also be shared with it sibling that means the Tata Graviras or Tat Safari will be powered by the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine making 170 HP. Gearbox options will also be similar, a 6-speed manual and a torque converter automatic gearbox, however, the Gravitas may get a rear-wheel-drive system, unlike its sibling which only gets front-wheel-drive.

 

Tata Altroz Turbo

Tata Motors’ premium hatchback, the Tata Altroz will get a new turbo-petrol engine option rather than a simple facelift. Tata Motors is set to launch the Altroz Turbo on 13 January 2021 and prices will be announced on the day of launch. Under the hood, the Altroz Turbo will get the same engine that powers the Nexon compact SUV but it will be slightly in a detuned state. The 1.2-litre 3 cylinder engine on the Latroz Tubo will make 110 Hp and 140 NM of torque. In terms of gearbox it the Altroz Turbo will get both 5-speed manual gearbox along with an option DCT gearbox which will be introduced later.

The only major change the Altroz Turbo will get is the engine and no other changes are expected to be done. A new paint scheme may be introduced.

 

Car Launches in India in January: Toyota Fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner is one of the best looking and best selling SUV in the segment. It received a facelift in international markets this year which had mainly revised exterior design and some more bits here and there. Just like the Facelift Toyota Innova Crysta launced few days back Toyota will launch the Fortuner facelift in India with mainly design updates along with some mechanical bits. It is scheduled to launch on 6th January 2021. Along with the Fortuner Facelift Toyota will also launch the Fortuner Legender in India.

 

With the Fortuner Facelift, what we are going to see is a powerful 2.8-litre diesel engine, a revised front-end which will mainly include newly designed slimmer LED headlights with new LED DRLs, a new grille, new front bumper with mesh inserts. It will also get newly designed 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear there will be minor cosmetic changes like a slim LED taillights. The interior design will most probably remain similar to the current model but may get a larger touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

 

So these are some of the cars and SUVs that are going to be launched in January 2021.
