2022 Honda Civic hatchback: what’s new?

Honda has given the 2022 Civic sedan a totally new look and it got a sharper design, simple yet very nice interior, and loads of tech. It even got nice engine options but the only missing thing was a manual transmission. But Honda really made it up to their die-hard fan and as they have revealed the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback, and yes it does get a manual transmission.

With the Civic Hatchback Honda brings back the iconic fastback body style, but also marks the return of the manual transmission to the Civic lineup. The Japanese firm is known for making some of the best manual transmissions in the past is not out of the game yet.

With the new fastback styling, the 2022 Civic Hatchback is said to offer more practicality. In terms of exterior styling when looking from the front its similar to the Civic Sedan in every aspect, the changes are done to the rear section, and now the rear hatch is said to be lighter than before and ditches the prominent wing that was seen of the previous model and features a boot lip and an optional small wing. The LED taillights are new and there are twin exhausts at the rear on both the edges of the bumper. Overall this gives the Civic hatchback a much wider look than it really is and that looks good because of its low stance.

The interior is identical to the Sedan and no changes have been made and thus it gets a digital instrument cluster, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment, High-end Bose sound system, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the metal honeycomb mesh across the dashboard that houses the air vents.

The engine details has not been revealed completely but it is expected to be offered with the same engines that power the Sedan. That means it will be available with both a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 180HP and the 2.0L naturally aspirated motor making 158HP. Both the engines will be offered with 6-speed manual and CVT transmission on the Sport and Sport Touring models while the LX and EX-L models will be stuck with the CVT transmission only. This gives us an idea of how the 11th-gen Civic Type-R is going to be which will be introduced later this year that will be powered by a pure IC engine. The current Civic Type-R is powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder petrol engine making 316Hp and is one of the most powerful front-wheel-drive car sold globally. The Civic will also be offered in a Hybrid version for sale in Europe by 2022 with the objective to electrify all mainstream passenger cars.

11th-gen Civic hatchback availability and pricing will it come to India?

The 11th-gen Honda Civic hatchback will be manufactured in Honda’s North America plant and will be exported to most European countries as the brand is about to close its UK plant in the near future.

In India, the outgoing Civic Sedan was sold for less than a year but due to low sales and the outbreak of the Pandemic led to the closure of Honda’s Noida plat where the car was assembled. This certainly means that Honda will not bring in the 11th-gen Civic model to the Indian market anytime soon.
