Engine and gearbox details

The 2021 Toyota Fortuner is available with both petrol and diesel engine option just like the outgoing model. So it gets both the 2.7-litre petrol engine and 2.8-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine has not been changed and produces 166 HP and 245 NM of torque. It comes with both 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic. Nothing much going on in there.

However, the diesel engine is updated for the Facelift and so the 2.8-litre diesel engine now is now capable to produce 204 Hp but the torque figures remain the same 420 Nm like before when paired with the 6-speed manual but the same 2.8-litre unit with the 6-speed automatic torque converter makes massive 500NM of torque which is same like the India Bound Ford Ranger Raptor Performance Pickup.

Like before, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift with the petrol engine is available in only two-wheel-drive option and however the Fortuner Diesel comes with option of four-wheel-drive system.
