The Skoda Kodiaq for 2021 has gone through a significant mid-life facelift and now the features more new technology and equipment and Skoda’s latest design language that can be seen on other new Skoda Models

2021 Skoda Kodiaq Design

 

With the facelift, the 2021 Skoda Kodiaq has received many exterior design changes that includes a new headlight design that features slim LED Matrix technology, a new grill, elevated bonnet work, revised front and rear bumper design. It also gets new slim LED taillights.

 

The new Skoda Kodiaq many variants out of which the three entry-spec trims namely- S, SE and SE L gets a new aluminium finished detailing on the front and rear apron to give it more offroad looks. Also gets a newly designed rear spoiler, there are also ‘finlets’ on the sides of the rear windows which are actually placed to optimise aerodynamics. While the higher-spec L&K and Sportline variants are offered with slightly different exterior styling like the former gets more chrome elements while the latter gets all blacked out body treatments.

 

While sitting on top is the Skoda Kodiaq RS that gets a gloss black treatment for the grille, blacked-out window frames and roof rails, and a bespoke front bumper to make it stand apart from the rest. It also gets the option of larger 20-inch alloy wheels finished in metallic black.

 

2021 Skoda Kodiaq Interior design and equipment

 

Like the exterior, the 2021 Kodiaq has also received an update to the interior and features Skoda’s latest design language which includes newly-designed seats which also includes optional electronically adjustable leather seats. The mid-spec variants gets the option of ‘Eco’ seats where the seat covers are made of recycled materials. Another most important factor on the interior is the 7-seat layout.

 

Next come is the dashboard layout which now features dual screens- a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit digital display for the instrument console (an option for all variants), the other screen is an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen as standard along with an option for a 9.2-inch version. The screen will feature wireless Andriod Auto and Apple CarPlay. There will also be an option for connected car tech. There is also an option for a 10-speaker Canton Audio system and a new LED ambient lighting. 

 

The top-spec Skoda Kodiaq RS interior features red RS stitching on the seats and other upholstery, it also gets Skoda’s Virtual Cockpit as standard. The 10.25″ digital display features a Sport layout option which makes the speedometer and rev counter prominent for that sporty feel.

 

Skoda Kodiaq engine and gearbox details

 

The 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift for the international market will get all the multiple engine options- a 1.5L TSI and 2.0L TSI petrol engine making 150HP and 190HP, and 1.5L and 2.0L TDI diesel engines producing 150HP and 200HP. In terms of the gearbox, the entry-level TSI variants will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox powering only the front wheels. The higher-spec models get 7-speed DCT as standard and offered with an all-wheel-drive option. The India-bound Skoda Kodiaq will be offered a 2.0-litre TSI making turbo-petrol engine making 190HP.

 

The top of the line Skoda Kodiaq RS gets a 245HP 2.0L TSI engine which also powers the Skoda Octavia RS, it replaces the 245HP twin-turbo diesel engine that was discontinued due to tighter emission norms.

 

2021 Skoda Kodiaq SUV Facelift India Launch

 

The Skoda Kodiaq SUV was first revealed in 2016 which built on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform and shares it with the Volkswagen Tiguan. The Kodiaq was introduced in India back in 2017 but was discontinued as BS6 emission norms came into play by April 2020.

 

With the 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift Skoda will bring it back to the Indian market by September 2021. It will be launched after the launch of the new Skoda Octavia, and the all-new mid-sized SUV Kushaq in June 2021. Expect the price to be in the range of Rs26 to Rs29 Lakh Ex-showroom.
