Porsche’s new 992 series of 911 Supercar has been out since 2018 and it’s already proving itself how good it is by the performance on offer. And with that, the track-focused GT3 lineup has also been updated for the new 992 series. And here it is the 2021 Porche 911 GT3 with a naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six engine that makes 510HP and comes with a manual gearbox. Porsche says that the new GT3 is much balanced for high-performance track run and everyday use.

2021 Porsche 911 GT3 Design and aerodynamics
The 911 GT3 exterior design is all about aerodynamics and superior performance around the track. the 992-Gen 911 is wider than before and as such the new GT3 is also wider and bigger in every term but still light enough for track performance. The most striking addition to the exterior is the new large adjustable rear wing which is adapted from the 911 RSR race car. It’s a manually adjustable wing and together with the adjustable carbon diffuser give the GT3 the performance by providing the required downforce. Porsche says that this mode is only for track usage.
Other design changes over the standard 992-gen 911 include a new aerodynamically optimised front bumper with cleaner sides and a large central air intake, then there are the vents on the front hood for airflow that provide downforce. Then there is the aggressive front splitter and side skirting that are all place for downforce. There is also an optional roof is made of exposed carbon fibre to keep the weight low and give the car strength.
There are various exclusive customisation options and body kits offered by Porsche, some of them include carbon mirror tops, smoked out headlights, redesigned rear taillight and custom paintwork the wheel rims.
Powertrain and performance
The 2021 Porche 911 GT3 is powered by Porche’s 4.0L naturally aspirated flat-six engine which is adapted from the track-only GT3 cup car is unchanged. It makes 510HP and 470Nm of torque which is similar to the limited-run 911 Speedster. But its 10HP more than the previous generation GT3 or 991.2-gen 911 GT3. This new engine can rev up to screaming 9,000 RPM mark and allows the car to hit 0-100Kph in 3.4 sec and can hit a top speed of 320kph with the manual gearbox and 318kph with the PDK dual-clutch automatic gearbox. These top speed figures are higher than the previous GT3 RS. While the new GT3 still gets the 6-speed manual gearbox there’s now an option for the 7-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic gearbox for fast shifts. Both the gearboxes only drive the rear wheels and in any GT3 car.
In terms of other performance updates, the 2021 Porche 992 911 GT3 not gets a race-inspired double wishbone type front suspension setup which is also for the first time. The rear axle is a modified multi-link set-up from the standard 911 car and comes with rear-wheel steering. The braking is taken care of by 408mm discs up front and 380mm discs on the rear with 6-piston callipers at the front and 4-piston callipers at the rear. Most probably these are carbon-ceramic discs but not yet confirmed. The lightweight forged wheels come with race-style centre lock type and are 20-inch at front and 21-inch at the rear. These come wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres with 255/35-profile at the front and super-wide 315/30 at the rear. There is also an option for more track-focused Michelin Cup 2 R slick tyres.
To keep the car super lightweight carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) has been used for the front bonnet, also the glass panels at the sides and rear are replaced with acrylic panels just like the previous-gen GT3. The cabin also gets race-spec treatment with lightweight carbon fibre seats and Chromoly steel tube roll rage for added strength. The exhaust system has also been optimised and saves another 10kg. It gets features like adjustable flaps for different exhaust notes while meeting the latest emission regulations.
The GT3 was always available with a wider body and this one too, while dimensions have not yet been declared but due to use of various lightweight materials it has a kerb weight of 1,418kg with the 6-speed manual gearbox and 1,435kg with the 7-speed dual-clutch PDK automatic gearbox which is quite light for a car of this size.
2021 Porsche 911 GT3 interior details
The 2021 Porche 911 GT3 dashboard layout is similar to that of the standard 992 911 but the cabin has been stripped down to reduce weight. The standard car seats have been replaced with proper race-spec carbon fibre seats and the rear unusable seats are completely removed, even the door handles are replaced with stips. But the great thing is the air conditioning is still present. There is use of Alcantara trim, and behind the seats are the roll cage for strength. This is a signature to the GT3. Also when compared to the standard 992 911 the PDK gear selector in the GT3 is like a regular shifter of a manual gear which on the standard 992 911 is a shift-by-wire toggle type switch. This is done for a more engaging drive by shifting gear in the centre console.
There is also a track screen feature which when selected reduces the information displayed the two digital displays placed on either side of the central rev counter and displays only essential information for track use, such as tyre pressure, oil pressure, temperature, water temperature and fuel level. There is also a shift light and coloured bar that assist with gearshifting.
2021 Porsche 911 GT3 India availability
Porche offered the previous-gen 911 GT3 in India but there is no news yet if the 2021 Porche 911 GT3 will be launched, but we expect that Porche will bring this to India by end of 2021 in very limited numbers. The new 911 GT3 will rival up against McLaren 600LT, Ferrari 488, Mercedes AMG GT to name a few.
