2021 MG Hector and Hector Plus Petrol get CVT gearbox.
MG Motor India has launched the Hector Facelift last month and now again launched new petrol-CVT variants to the Hector line-up. The 2021 Hector CVT price starts at RS 16.52 Lakh Ex-showroom, India. The CVT gearbox will be offered with only 5-seater Hector and 6-seater Hector Plus in two trims – Smart and Sharp. Prices of the CVT variants are given below.
- 2021 MG Hector CVT and Hector Plus CVT will only be available on top trims and 5 and 6 seater variants only.
- The 8-speed CVT transmission gets drive modes.
- Available on top trim levels so equipped with every features and creature comfort as standrad to the trim.
MG Hector CVT Powertrain details
The 2021 MG Hector CVT and Hector Plus CVT is offered with only petrol engine and that means it gets 1.5L turbo-petrol engine that makes 143 HP. This is also the same engine that powers the Hector petrol-manual and DCT variants, so no chnages on the engine department. Now the CVT gearbox on offer is an 8-speed unit that is offered with two drive modes – Eco and Sport.
The new Hector CVT petrol variants will be sold along with the manual and DCT variants making it the only car in the segment that offers two automatic gearbox options for the same engine.The advantage of the CVT addition is that MG promises it will offer more fuel economy and the shift will be much smoother than the DCT variant.
New 2021 MG Hector features
MG Motors India recently launched the facelifted version of the Hector and Hector Plus and most of the changes are which includes cosmetic and update to the instrument list.
Talking about exterior changes the most noticeable change on the 2021 Hector facelift variants are the revised grille at the front and at the rear the chrome stripe on the tailgate is replaced with a black one. Also, the facelift Hector now gets newly designed front and rear scuff plates and now runs on newly designed 18 inch alloy wheels.
Coming to the interior changes, the layout remains similar to the pre-facelift model but the all-black theme for interior is now replaced with a option of dual-tone scheme that now gets black and beige upholstery that adds more premiumness and better ambience. Other feature updates for the 2021 Hector variants include front ventilated seats, wireless phone charging, an auto-dimming IRVM. Also the MG Hector plus is now offered with 2 seating configurations – 6 and 7-seater, former gets captain seats for 2nd row and later gets bench type seat for 2nd row respectively.
Other equipment update include is to the Voice Command system which is now able to recognise up to 31 commands in Hinglish also also some in complete Hindi that can be used for actions like opening and closing of the sunroof to the operation of air-conditioner and the Navigation System.
MG Hector CVT VS rivals in the segment
The new 2021 MG Hector CVT will go up against other mid-sized SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the Nissan Kicks as these too comes with petrol-CVT powertrain combination. Differences in the pricing is mentioned below in the table.
