2021 Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift is launched at Rs 5.73 lakh that goes up to 8.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The facelift gave the highest-selling hatchback new styling, equipment updates and a new more powerful petrol engine.

Swift facelift exterior design

Talking about the design of the 2021 Maruti Suzuki Swift, the mid-facelift gives the hatchback some small exterior cosmetic changes that include a new mesh grille design with chrome element placed at the centre to give it a premium look. The rear part of the car is kept the same as the outgoing model and no changes can be seen at that part.

Some of the new features that Maruti Suzuki now offers with the Swift facelift are three dual-tone colour options for the top-spec variants. The colour options are named Pearl Arctic white with a black roof, Solid Fire red with black roof and a Metallic Midnight blue with a white roof. Other things on the outside are similar to the outgoing model.

Now talking about the interior, the seats now get new fabric upholstery and sportier than before as said by Maruti Suzuki. In terms of equipment, now the base VXi variant gets a new audio system that comes with features like feather-touch controls for volume and track change. Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity are standard like before.

While the top-spec fully feature loaded variant now gets cruise control, a twin-pod instrument cluster with a coloured MID replacing the outgoing model’s cluster that has DOT Matrix digital display also gets auto-folding wing mirrors. The interior layout is still the same as the outgoing model and retains the impressive LED projector headlamp set up, a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto, the system also can show live traffic updates with Smartplay Studio Mobile app, also gets keyless entry and exit, automatic climate control function, rearview parking camera even hill-hold assist (comes with AMT version only).

One of the most important and biggest highlight of the 2021 Suzuki Swift lies under its hood. The Maruti Suzuki has replaced the old 1.2-lire K12B engine producing 83HP with a new more powerful 1.2-litre  K12 naturally aspirated DualJet VVT petrol engine that makes 90 Hp. The same engine also powers the Swift Dzire compact sedan. While there is an increase in power figure but the torque output remains the same as the old engine which is 113NM. The new engine also comes with an engine auto start/stop function that will make it more efficient and fuel economic which Maruti Suzuki cars are well known for. The facelifted Swift now has an ARAI tested mileage figure of 23.20kpl with manual gearbox and 23.76kpl with the AMT automatic version which is 2.25kpl more than the outgoing model that has a figure of 21.21kpl. Gearbox options remain the same as the outgoing model and hence get a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

The facelifted Maruti Suzuki Swift like before will rival up against the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios (Rs 5.19-7.87 lakh*) and Ford Figo (Rs 5.64-7.09 lakh*).
