BMW M 1000 RR Design

The BMW M 1000 RR superbike is based on the BMW S 1000 RR and hence it shares majority of the components and body panels from that superbike. One of the most visual changes that can be seen on the M 1000 RR is the carbon fibre aero kit or more specifically speaking the winglest at from or M-Winglets in terms of BMW. BMW says that the carbon winglets help to provide the bike a maximum aerodynamic downforce of 16.3kg at 186mph or 299kph preventing it from lifting its front wheels at those speed ofcourse there are electronics to prevent wheelie. Overall the M 1000 RR looks purpose built for the track, is aggressive and the M Sport colour scheme with exposed carbons bits take the design to another level.

BMW M 1000 RR Engine Details

The 2021 BMW M 1000 RR is powered by a 4-cylinder 999cc engine which is derived from the BMW S 1000 RR but it has been tuned to make more power and torque figures. This is achieved by making changes in the internals like use of new forged pistons with two rings, new titanium con rods, also each piston is lighter by 12g. The titanium connecting rods are 2mm longer and lighter than before and weighs just 85gms each. Other vital changes to the internals include lighter rocker arms, revised intake port geometry, titanium exhaust valves and increase in the compression ratio to 13.5:1. These changes results in increase of power outpu by 5HP over the S 1000 RR and a max redline of 15,100RPM compared 14,600RPM on the S 1000 RR engine. The total power out is rated at 212HP at 14,500RPM and 113NM of torque at 11,000RPM. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch with bi-directional quickshifter. The M 1000 RR can go from 0-100kph in 3.1sec and can hit a top speed of 306KPH.

BMW M 1000 RR Chassis, Electronics and Equipments

Talking about the BMW M 1000 RR chassis, it is based on the standard S 1000 RR and the frame is made of Aluminium to keep it light and strong. The steering geometry is also optimised and comes with more aggressive flatter steering  angle measuring at 66.4 degrees. The fork offset has also been reduced by 3mm measuring at 26.5mm. The wheelbase has also been increased from 1,441mm to 1,457mm which is achieved by using a new longer swingarm. The brakes used are of Nissin and the monoblock calipers are finished in BMW M-division signature blue paint. The brake caliper are lighter and the dics rotors are thicker than the S 1000 RR units and provides superior braking performance.

In terms of equipments and electronics, as expected from any litre class bike in this segment, the motorcycle gets a 6.5-inch TFT screen that has a unique starting animation with M logo. It also gets an OBD interface which can be used for the M GPS data logger and M GPS laptrigger with an activation code which is available with the Performance pack., There are loads of other electronics suite on offer.
