2021 Suzuki Hayabusa launched : engine and chassis deatils
The new-gen Suzuki Hayabusa continues to use a 1,340cc, four-cylinder engine but it has been tweaked completely for the new Hayabusa. The changes include new lighter pistons, new con rods and fuel injectors and valves. However, both power and torque figures have gone down when compared to the previous-gen engine. The engine now makes 190hp and 150NM of peak torque when compared to 197HP and around 155NM of torque of the previous-gen Hayabusa and that is less by almost 7HP.
However, with lower power output Suzuki claims that the torque delivery has been revised and it builds up in lower revs which will result in the 2021 Hayabusa being the ‘quickest production Hayabusa’.
The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa uses the same twin-spar aluminium frame as before. It has an identical wheelbase of 1,480mm like the previous model. However, due to the use of lighter materials for the exhaust, the kerb weight is down by 2kgs and measures at 264Kg. The Suspension duties are taken care of by Showa units both front and rear with tweaked internals for 2021. Another crucial and much-needed change was in the braking department, now the Hayabusa comes equipped with Brembo Stylema Calipers at the front which will offer superior braking performance. The superbike also gets a newly designed lightweight alloy wheel which comes wrapped in Bridgestone Battlax S22 tyres.
New Hayabusa electronics
The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa also gets updated electronics compared to the previous model for superior handling for the rider. It now gets a new 6-axis IMU, 10 levels of traction control, 10 levels of anti-wheelie control, three levels of engine braking control, three pre-set power modes, launch control, cruise control, cornering ABS and even hill hold control which will come in handy to control superbike that weighs 264Kg.
For 2021, Suzuki has also updated Hayabusa with all-LED headlight, taillights and indicator. It also come with a new analogue console with a new TFT display in the centre to help the rider to go through different menus with ease.
