Overview

The 2021 Mustang Mach E is Ford’s first all-electric crossover which is inspired by the automaker’s most potent and recognisable car “The Mustang“. Although it may have a similar name and design cues like its fire breathing sibling the all-electric Mach E is a completely different car. Comes two battery options with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and can provide a range of 300miles or 483km with an extended battery pack and rear-wheel drive as an option. Other features include modern-day creature comfort and the latest infotainment options by Ford and most importantly there is room for 5 passengers and ample storage space. While purists may hate this EV, but Ford is working for the future as SUVs and Electric Vehicles are the next options in the coming years for the Automotive Industry and with the Mustang name they expect to get people interested and sell some when deliveries will start by the end of 2020

Design and Dimensions

The initial design for the brand’s first all-electric SUV was similar to the Ford Edge. But to make a market impact and compete with EV Gaint like Tesla, Ford opted for Mustang-inspired design cues for this SUV and it seems like a success.  Ford claims the Mach E’s CG is lower than any other Ford SUV and is one of the best handling SUVs they have ever made.

As claimed by Ford the Mach E handles like the gas Mustang and all thanks to its clever design. The Mach E’s headlights designs is very close to the on 2020 Mustang and in also in the back tri-bar LED taillights. Also to make it more appealing Ford directly integrated the original Mustang badge on the front grille, also can be found on the steering wheel, the wheel center caps, and on the rear hatch of the base model. Seems like they really want to let people know what they are up to.

The 2021 Mustang Mach-E is a five-passenger SUV or crossover available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive versions. Dimension wise it has a 117-inch long wheelbase and is 186 inches long with that it slots between Ford Escape and Edge in length but has a much longer wheelbase than both. But it has a lower ground clearance for a crossover, all these for better performance and it ranges from 5.7 inches to 5.3 inches for Base Variant Select and GT Variant respectively. In terms of cargo space, it has two trunks, one at the rear and the other at the front, this helped it to have a total capacity of 59.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.

But the Standard variant doesn’t come with an extended range battery pack but you can opt for rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive options while the California Route 1 variant comes with extended battery range and rear-wheel drive option only.

All the variants come standard with regenerative braking for better range and performance on the go.

The Premium model is available with the option of standard or extended-range battery packs and rear- or all-wheel drive, while the First Edition comes only with all-wheel drive and the extended-range battery as standard. The battery packs are placed under the floor and powers the permanent magnet synchronous motors across all variants.

Power ranges from as low as 255 HP and 415 NM of torque for the standard-range models to 332 HP and 565 Nm of torque for the AWD extended-range models. While rear-wheel-drive-only higher-performance GT will make a healthy 459 HP and 828 NM of torque.

With that much power, Ford claims that Mach-E can go from 0-100kmph in less than 4 seconds. The Mach-E wheel sizes range from 18 to 20 inches and will have options for adaptive dampers for better ride comfort and performance.
