2021 MG Hector Facelift launched in India along with a 7-Seater Verison of Hector Plus Variant

MG India has launched 2021 MG Hector Facelift at Rs 12.90 Lakh and the 2021 MG Hector Plus at Rs 13.35 Lakh, ex-showroom, India. Its been around 18 months since the mid-size SUV is launched in India and it got a facelift. MG India has updated the entire Hector line in India for 2021 which brought some minor cosmetic changes with the addition of few more features. They have also launched a 7-seater version of the MG Hector Plus.

 

 

  • 2021 MG Hector and Hector Plus gets a facelift that brought minor cosmetic changes but a significant increase in price.

 

  • Now gets an option for a dual-tone interior.

 

  • Now available in both 6-seat and 7-seat configurations.

 

  • Now gets front ventilated seats, wireless charger and updated Infotainment system and i-smart connectivity features.

2021 MG Hector Facelift and Hector Plus new features

 

The 2021 MG Hector facelift and Hector Plus Mid-size SUV gets minor cosmetic updates for this year. The 5-seater SUV was launched 18 months back with the addition of 6-seater Hector Plus last year. The cosmetic changes on the outside include a new grille with chrome inserts at front and at the rear, the chrome strip running between the taillights is replaced by a glossy black strip. Also gets newly designed front and rear scuff plates. The major change on both the SUVs on the outside is now both SUVs gets 18-inch alloy wheels while the outgoing models had 17-inch alloy wheels. The facelift Hector for 2021 also gets a new paint scheme called Starry Blue. 

 

On the interior, the 2021 MG Hector facelift now gets an all-new light colour interior option along with a dual-tone black interior which the previous model only had an all-black interior. This will up the cabin premiumness and also give an illusion of a bigger cabin which is already very spacious.

 

Along with that said the 2021 MG Hector Plus is now offered in a 7-seater option which gets a bench-type seat for the 2nd row and is placed over previously introduced 6-seater MG Hector Plus.

 

Taling about other interior equipment updates, now the 6-seater Hector and 6-seater Hector Plus ventilated front seats with electrical adjustment for both driver and co-driver seats, also gets wireless phone charging pad and an auto-dimming IRVM (Inside Rear View Mirror).

Another equipment update that the 2021 MG Hector gets is the Hinglish update for voice command that now includes 31 more commands. The system is now faster than before in terms of recognising voice and helps in seamless control of operating sunroof, air-conditioning, navigation and other features.

 

There are no other changes but the fully-loaded variants like before gets all the creature comforts like 10.4-inch tablet styled touchscreen, connected car technology, auto AC, auto headlights, 360-degree camera, cruise control, panoramic sunroof and more.

 

2021 MG Hector and Hector Plus engine and gearbox options

 

Talking about engines, both Hector and Hector-Plus SUVs get equipped with engine options like the outgoing models. That means there is the option to choose from a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine producing 143 HP that can also be opted with Mild Hybrid tech and another a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine producing 170 HP (Also this is the same Fiat-sourced engine that powers the new Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier but tuned differently in all the cars).

 

In terms of gearbox, there is an option of 6-speed manual gearbox as standard across all engine options. There is also an option for 6-speed DCT even for the non-hybrid petrol variant.

 

MG Hector 5-seater Facelift Rivals

 

The updated 2021 MG Hector direct rivals are Tata Harrier whose price ranges from Rs 13.84-20.30 lakh then comes the second-gen Hyundai Creta (Rs 9.82-17.32 lakh*), the Kia Seltos (Rs 9.89-17.45 lakh), the Nissan Kicks (Rs 9.50-14.15 lakh) in the mid-sized SUV segment.

 

2021 MG Hector Plus rivals

 

While The MG Hector Plus being the bigger sibling rival up against the  Mahindra XUV500 (Rs 13.58-18.08 lakh*) to some extent Toyota Innova Crysta (Rs 16.26-24.33 lakh*). It will also compete against Tata’s Flagship SUV the New-Gen Safari scheduled to launch on 27 of January which will also be available in 6-seater and 7-seater variants.
